School Council Elections -- UPDATED 4/26/2018

IMPORTANT UPDATE:  There will be no School Council election on Friday, May 4, due to a DCSD procedure change.

Parents of DHS and PCMS 8th grade students,

We learned recently that there is a change in the procedures for the nominations and election of School Council members. For starters, the group is now officially known as the Principal Advisory Council

Please see the link below and the attachment which have been provided by the DeKalb County School District. To summarize, the elections will not take place until the Fall.  Given the new DCSD policy, voting will NOT occur on Friday, May 4, as anticipated.

When are Fall elections?

The candidate declaration window will be open Monday, April 9th through Friday, August 31st. Electronic voting will be held from 8:00am on Tuesday, September 18th through 5:00pm on Tuesday, September 25th.

How will the elections be administered?

Elections will be administered by the DCSD Charter Schools, School Governance, & Flexibility Office. All eligible voters will vote via an online election system. Voters will use the following steps to cast their ballots over the internet from any computer, smartphone, or other web-enabled device:

  1. An email containing your electronic ballot will be sent to the email address on file in Infinite Campus (parents/guardians) or Outlook (teachers).
  2. Click on the link in the email to access your electronic ballot.
  3. Cast your vote. A receipt will be sent to your email address confirming that your vote was recorded.

All votes will be anonymous. Parents without access to computers and the internet can cast their votes at their neighborhood school(s).
DCSD will announce winners via our Principal Advisory Council website within 5 days of the close of the election window. Winners will be posted at http://dekalbschoolsga.org/school-councils

We certainly hope the candidates that have been nominated will still run for a seat on the Council...nothing has changed except for the timing and the procedures.  Also, this will open it up for more opportunities for other DHS parents to throw their names in the running as new parents arrive in the Fall.  Nominations are accepted through August 31, 2018, as stated above.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  My email is below.

Thank you,

Bruce Kaminsky, DHS School Council (Principal Advisory Council) Chair
